T. B. Harris, Jr. & Associates has provided consulting experience for private, university and municipal arena/civic center projects across the United States. The typical engagement includes a site analysis, an analysis of existing competitive facilities, an estimate of facility utilization including number of events and attendance, and projected financial performance. Most reports include an analysis of available funding and financing for the project, if proposed, and an economic impact model. The recommendation for the "ideal" facility program, including seating capacity, exhibition area, meeting room area, and ancillary/support area is an integral part of the study.
Examples of arena projects for which consulting services have been provided include:
- A study to determine the market potential for a proposed 18,000-seat arena in Memphis, Tennessee. The study included site analysis and rating, estimated utilization, financial performance, and economic impact for the proposed building.
- A study for a proposed 10,000-seat arena in Davenport, Iowa to be used by the city's Continental Basketball Association franchise and for other public events.
- The feasibility study for the proposed expansion of an existing 8,500-seat arena at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. The study provided estimates of market potential, utilization, financial performance, and economic impact.
- A study of the market and economic feasibility for a new arena for Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.
- A feasibility study for a proposed 15,000-seat arena to be located in suburban Rome, Italy. The primary tenant for the facility would be Rome's professional basketball team.
